Application Specialist - Bakery (Pacific NorthWest Region)

MISSION

 

Support profitable business growth at industrial sized customers by formulating,  proposing & implementing innovative concepts on their lines and by trouble shooting specific issues

 

KEY TASKS

 

Development and implementation of new products and concepts on industrial lines

  • Development of products in line with customer demands by following our NPD process
  • Includes formulation and standardized baking tests
  • Participate in the creation of demo concepts
  • Understand R-A-P approach required for successful implementation

Trouble shooting at customers

  • To ensure existing sales or to develop new business opportunities
  • Capable to associate different Puratos technologies in finished products
  • Includes adaptation if needed of existing formulas

Business Development support to Sales by :

  • Identifying new business opportunities at large customers (prospection)
  • Detecting products at risk
  • Implementing appropriate solutions (existing and new)
  • Making internal and external presentation and seminars explaining benefits of our products
  • Participate in strategic exercises intending to develop our business in the above mentioned products. This should be based on a good understanding of the local market

Manage accurately all technical administration

  • Ensure complete documentation on raw materials, formulations, process parameters, item requests, QC tests, labelling, TDS...  on new or revised products;
  • Build an accessible project documentation in line with our NPD procedure by using the appropriate tools (R&D development documents, customer visit templates)

Build expertise & network in speciality area

  • Becoming leading expert in the product range by training and field experience.
  • Build around the expertise an active network of high commercial value of customers, machine suppliers, researchers, vendors and the international Puratos R&D community
  • Provide intelligence on innovative raw materials & technologies that can differentiate our products

Assure premium performances of the R&D lab by designing standardised baking tests and respecting the 5S and GMP policy.

Act with Safety in mind.

Food Safety :

  • Report all food safety and quality issues to immediate Supervisor and / or head of Quality and take immediate action as appropriate within the team as defined by Quality procedures.
  • Comply with our food safety procedures upon new raw material selection, product development or modification and sample preparation.

 

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree - preferably in Food Science, Food Technology or Chemistry
  • Min. 5 years of experience in food product development / technical sales,  ideally in baking industry or ingredients related to the baking industry, including hands-on experience in industrial bakery, patisserie or chocolate production
  • Understand functionality of ingredients / additives in relation to process and interaction between carrier-filling-decoration
  • Proficient in spreadsheet & presentation software
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
