Key Mission

Reporting directly to the Procurement Director, the successful candidate for this key function will be responsible for developing and implementing the purchasing strategy for Grains, Fats & Oils for North America.  Estimated spend is $118M+

 

Key Accountabilities

Category Management

 

  • Champions the category management process so that it is understood and accepted by the business.
  • Understands and consistently applies the category management process and tools.
  • Develops, implements, and executes strategies which maximize PURATOS’s leverage with suppliers, and which are aligned with business objectives

 

Stakeholder Management

  

  • Prepares and effectively implements Communication Plans and Stakeholder Maps for procurement
  • Develops consensus within multifunctional team and with stakeholders, transforming conflicting objectives into agreed goals
  • Obtains approval for category strategies & sign off agreed with key stakeholders
  • Works closely with senior management to ensure procurement strategies are aligned with business objectives
  • Understands and implements requirements related to PURATOS’s supplier diversity & sustainability initiative, including the setting and measuring of performance targets.

 

Supplier Management

 

  • Provides leadership to promote effective supplier relationships based on fair buying practices and strict maintenance of ethical standards.
  • Understands the total supply chain(s) to which the good/service is applied.
  • Minimizes risk through effective supply and supplier management strategies.
  • Conditions suppliers regarding company objectives at every opportunity.
  • Defines strategies and leads process for vendor relationships, including (but not limited to) vendor selection, contract negotiation, governance, and termination.

 

Contract Negotiation and Risk Management

 

  • Is the central person in the organization with the right market knowledge and uses this as a tool to implement proper hedging of raw materials.
  • Develops and executes -in cooperation with the business- the RM cover strategies to minimize impact coming from fluctuating RM markets
  • Uses a variety of sophisticated negotiation techniques.
  • Incorporates critical commercial terms and cost delivery targets into negotiated agreements
  • Anticipates issues which may impact PURATOS during the course of the contract and addresses those issues effectively through appropriate terms and conditions.
  • Manages the RFI/RFP and bid evaluation process and leads the negotiations and vendor contracting process

 

Performance Management

 

  • Extracts appropriate information out of reporting systems to support specific analysis requirements & decisions
  • Drives the achievement of savings and working capital improvement targets in support of overall company goals.
  • Proactively looks for synergies across the organization to reduce costs and leverage resources.
  • Drives on time in full and right first-time performance with vendors to enable best in class service to Puratos’ customers
  • Works with Pricing to optimize profit margins by managing raw material price evolutions and incorporating savings in the margins

 

People Management

 

  • Works closely with local buyers and with the procurement team to drive best in class procurement strategies
  • Willing to step in to assist with all tasks when needed
  • Mentors internal and external stakeholders in the procurement process.

 

 Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s preferred
  • 10+ Experience in grains, fats or oils or experience that easily transfers
  • Relevant experience in purchasing of similar categories
  • Strong Excel skills/ Very analytical / accurate with costs and reporting
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Takes self-initiative / Pro-active in looking for and proposing improvements
  • Ability to work within fast moving cross-functional environment
  • Experience of working in an international environment/ Culture awareness and experience of diversity
  • Outstanding negotiation, influencing and analytical skills
