Job Purpose:

Puratos USA is looking for an experienced Boiler Operator with a NJ Black or Blue Seal. The qualified associate will be primarily responsible for the operation of our boiler and nearby utilities. They will have to perform daily rounds to inspect and record data of all departmental equipment in order to assure safe operation in compliance with all relevant NJ regulations.

 

Job Overview:

The Boiler Operator monitors automatically fired boilers to generate steam that supplies heat or power for buildings or industrial processes. The person will also be responsible for performing maintenance activities for the boilers, facility and other equipment when needed.

This person will be responsible for the operation of one 800hp boilers, water testing of the boilers to maintain the proper chemical levels and maintain a daily log.

This position is located in our Pennsauken, NJ facility and will be on 2nd Shift 24/7 (12pm to 12am) however this person must be flexible to work other shifts as needed including holidays.

 

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • This role focuses on steam, compressed air, wastewater, and other mechanical/electrical duties within the maintenance area as assigned
  • Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance throughout the Utilities Dept. including following all training, PPE, GMP, and other requirements
  • Determine technical solutions to problems and implement
  • Inspect equipment on a regular basis
  • Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges
  • Record meter and gauge readings and operational data
  • Perform regular maintenance on equipment.
  • Record maintenance activities in SAP
  • Keeps the maintenance/boiler area and surrounding areas neat and clean.
  • Responsible for operating the boiler/chiller/thermal systems and accessories, hot water system, water softeners, and all pumps parts associated with the boilers/chiller systems efficiently.
  • Responsible for maintaining spare parts and consumable parts inventory.
  • Responds to alarms and equipment failure, notification, and documentation.
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of Facilities Administrator, Maintenance Manager, Plant Manager, or other members of the management team

 

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum Black Seal
  • 6+ months in an industrial maintenance related role
  • Must possess a fundamental understanding of boiler operations

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support utility and mechanical needs and to conduct multi-task work in a very fast paced work environment.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs)
  • Frequent pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs)
  • Ability to work at heights off a ladder, scissor lift, boom lift or scaffolding, climb stairs
  • Ability to stand and / or work on feet for extended periods (minimum 12 hours).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • New Jersey Blue

  • Technical Degree/Trade Certification

  • Working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other mechanical systems.
