Sr. Executive – R&D – Regulatory Affairs

(Mumbai, India)

Reporting directly to the R&D Manager and contributes to the overall success of the organization.

Assure the company's production activities comply with regulations and standard operating procedures.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Communicate with team members about actions they can take to meet regulatory standards.
  • Observe company operations to ensure that team members are following all standards.
  • To lead and manage all matters related to Regulatory Affairs for Puratos India.
  • Puratos India is an ingredient-based company which manufacturers bakery and confectionery products like cake mixes, bakery mixes, other fine bakery mixes, chocolate, fillings, crushes, fruits based fillings and compound based fillings etc.
  • To ensure Regulatory Compliance against FSSAI and Legal Metrology for the company in documents.
  • To plan, prepare, review, and submit technical dossier to the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) for proprietary products while manufacturing license renewal or modification.
  • To plan, prepare, review, and submit technical dossier to the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) for novel or new ingredients/products that company may plan to import or manufacture.
  • To be responsible for and prepare applications and establish procedures for obtaining all Licenses from regulatory bodies for Puratos India.
  • To provide regulatory support for India R&D, Production, Marketing, and Sales functions of the company and coordinate with the local/regional functions to achieve strategic plan of company.
  • Provide regulatory support to global R&D to develop compliant product as per FSSAI requirement.
  • Support QC/QA team with documentation to face Regulatory body audits on Halal by Indian and global authorities and Certification in FSSC 22000 certification.
  • To co-ordinate, prepare, submit and support cross functions to execute Regulatory submissions across Pan India.
  • To ensure strategies are developed for approval of in-house developed products.
  • To be responsible for review and approval of Advertisements and promotional materials provided by marketing team as per Indian regulatory requirement.
  • To conduct contingency regulatory planning / risk assessment for product development.
  • Create and review label and ensure FSSAI compliant label for Puratos India products.
  • Managing professional working relationships and meeting with all regulatory agencies for submissions; follow up; query resolution and discussions with relevant officials for ensuring company compliance.
  • Visit FSSAI office and follow up for pending applications and dealing with queries of the department.
  • Overseeing organizational operational systems (TDS, MSDS, COA for Finished products and raw materials, FSMS plan, Recall plan) for ensuring compliance.
  • Providing inputs for development of new business proposals and project budgets.
  • Handling of SAP system for regulatory compliance of the Puratos India.
  • To keep a track of new notifications and government announcements and inform the concerned teams about the same.
  • Handling and managing Customer complaints related to FSSAI regulations or Certification in FSSC 22000 certification.
  • Help in Import/Export FSSAI registration and documentation for Puratos India products.
  • Understand Regulations of other Countries for internal support to Puratos group.
  • To help, support and manage the team and their timely deliverables.
  • Attending seminars, conference related to FSSAI and other regulatory bodies.
  • Conducting internal seminars and training for building FSSAI compliance team.
  • To ensure that the R&D team, QC team and purchase approves FSSAI compliant vendors for RM.
  • To ensure that the RM vendors compliant as per FSSAI and confirm the same to respective stake holders.

 

 

 

COMPETENCIES / PROFILE

  • A bachelor’s degree in food science, nutrition, biology, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory affairs in the food and beverage industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of FSSAI regulations is necessary.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail, are essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills facilitate effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing regulatory submissions and interacting with regulatory agencies is preferred.
  • The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment is advantageous.
