Research Lab Assistant Baking

Join our dynamic team as a Research Lab Assistant Baking and immerse yourself in a world of delightful creations. Your mission in this team is to perform baking trials according to well defined procedures, allowing to build scientific insights. As a key member of our Research and Development department, you will have the chance to explore and experiment with an array of delicious ingredients, shaping the future of bakery and pastry products.


Key accountabilities


Your responsibilities within this role:


  • You explore new ingredients in a diverse range of bakery products, including bread, baguette, croissant, and more.
  • You conduct baking tests, collaborating closely with our Research Managers who rely on your expertise to develop products. Your meticulousness in the baking process will be instrumental in their projects' success.
  • From ingredient preparation to precise mixing and baking, you will be responsible for the entire baking process.
  • You will analyze the baked goods' volume, texture, and sensorial properties, and organize organoleptic evaluations with the research managers.
  • You bring attention to detail as you follow existing recipes and processes diligently, maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency.
  • You embrace the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of our recipes and methods, aligning with project requirements and new technological advancements in the bakery sector.
  • You report comprehensive analysis summarizing baking tests, observations, and conclusions. You will communicate directly with Research Managers, effectively conveying your findings in English.
  • You collaborate closely with colleagues from various departments, fostering an environment of knowledge sharing and innovation.
  • You will also contribute to the good working of the Test Center team (safety, maintenance, organization).





Who are we looking for ?


  • You have completed a bachelor degree in food chemistry, food technology or nutrition and dietetics or a baker's program with relevant experience (R&D, food technology).
  • You are well organized and flexible and you like to work in a team. You have a real interest in the baking process and new technologies in the bakery/patisserie sector.
  • You work extremely accurately and systematically and you are familiar with current PC applications (Word and Excel).
  • A good knowledge of English is important for internal communication and reporting. In addition, a fluent mastery of Dutch and / or French is a plus.
