For our Puratos Headquarters in Groot-Bijgaarden – Belgium, we are looking for a R&D Manager Business Development.

Within the Business Unit Patisserie Mixes, you drive the business development towards Industrial Patisserie through the implementation of innovation and renovation projects with focus on the Semi- & Industry channel. 

You contribute to the development and optimization of products and processes in order to achieve business results, often expressed in growth and profitability.

Key Accountabilities:

Applied R&D

• Define & develop, in close collaboration with the markets, the product range including  innovations and strategic products, and a specific customer approach for the Semi - & Industry Channel
• Accelerate the implementation of Puratos Patisserie Mixes solutions for Industry and Semi-Industry by mastering the industrial processes
• Initiate, develop and maintain relationships and/or partnerships with external stakeholders, such as suppliers and industrial equipment manufacturers.
• Screen new developments in processing technology and contribute to building relevant research processes, guidelines and procedures in order to add value to the business by working effectively and efficiently
• Ensure knowledge building, documentation and exchange technical & scientific know-how in the field, between HQ and relevant stakeholders in order to accelerate business development

Support to countries and business development/training/competence building

• Create and develop together with the PM the strategy of the category in order to grow the business profitability
• Optimize the product range on performance and cost
• Steer the implementation of strategic, international and local innovation and renovation projects
• Steer business development by customer visits and understanding customer needs
• Train the local business development teams on products and technologies and support countries for new product developments and tailor-made products creation
• Roll-out technical knowledge on the product category to the local R&D teams to make them independent in their development projects with Semi- & Industry
• Follow-up the designated Large Accounts by ensuring technical support, reviewing the account plan, following the main projects and visiting them
• Organize the training of both newcomers and advanced R&D managers on innovation, ingredients, formulations, IP protection, process and applications

Quality and operations

• You collaborate with Operations (incl production, supply chain, quality and purchasing) and give support by sharing expertise (eg. Perform Raw material risk assessment)

Who are we looking for?

• You have an academic degree in Bioscience Engineering, Food Technology or equivalent.
• You have at least 8 years of experience within R&D in the food sector.
• You are passionate about food and have knowledge about food processing and quality
• You have Innovation capabilities, general knowledge in ingredients functionality and basic knowledge in food processing and quality
• You are digital savvy
• You have real business development spirit and profile
• You are critical thinking and problem solving.
• You are a dynamic person that is able to challenge, plan and organize.
• You have strong communication skills and can build a good collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• You are fluent in English. Any other languages are a plus.
• You are willing to travel globally (30%).
