Reporting directly to President of Puratos Canada, as the Director of Business Development your mission is to envision and execute a comprehensive strategy for our fruit and crème fillings and channels, fostering collaboration with business development and operations teams. Together, we aim to extend our leadership in the health and wellbeing category, ensuring innovation, and sustained growth, ultimately delivering impactful solutions to our customers and contributing to a healthier world.

Key Deliverables:

    1. Deliver the Fraser Valley Business Plan by 2028 (including US)
    2. Double volume in Mississauga by 2028

  1. Market Analysis: Conducting thorough market research to identify opportunities and trends in the industry.
  2. Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing strategies to achieve business unit goals aligned with the overall company objectives.
  3. Product Development: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, plan, and launch new products or services.
  4. Channel Strategy: Design and implement market-specific growth strategies across target sectors; Retail, Industry and Foodservice.
  5. Partnership and Alliances: Building and managing strategic partnerships to enhance the business unit's reach and capabilities.
  6. Financial Management: Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis to ensure the business unit's financial health.
  7. Team Leadership: Providing leadership and guidance to the business unit team, and the Fraser Valley site, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  8. Performance Monitoring: Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly monitoring performance against set targets.
  9. Customer Engagement: Ensuring a customer-centric approach, understanding customer needs, and implementing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  10. Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating potential risks that may impact the business unit's success.
  11. Continuous Improvement: Implementing processes for ongoing improvement, adapting strategies based on feedback and market dynamics.

 

II.  POSITION PROFILE

 

  • Proven experience in business development and sales, with a focus on building and maintaining customer relationships.
  • 5+ years in the food industry and preferably US/ Canada market.
  • R&D and/or manfacturing experience is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a target-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive attitude with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50%) for customer visits and other business development activities.
  • An understanding of financial management, manufacturing processes, operational excellence and product to ensure growth realization
  • Capable of managing high levels of complexity and change management
  • Demonstrates high level of emotional intelligence; able to adapt style to suit teams and smooth transitions
  • Stakeholder manager with objective, balanced and positive style
