The Warehouse Operations Manager manages the daily warehouse, distribution and logistics operations. This includes accurate and safe execution of SOPs, material flow, commercial vehicle fleet management, final mile route optimization, inventory management, cost management (OPEX) and cost reduction. This role ensures employees are operating in a safe and efficient manner while meeting or exceeding CAL OSHA, Federal & State, and Food Safety regulations within the distribution warehouse. The Warehouse Operations Manager provides world class customer service by utilizing resources of the organization to provide the right products in the right places at the right times.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead distribution and warehouse operations in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Enforce safety protocols aligned with CAL OSHA and food defense standards per FISMA and company quality guidelines
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, fleet management, inventory, building hygiene, and special projects
  • Maintain compliance with FMCSA and NJ DOT regulations, including driver logs and fleet maintenance
  • Optimize material flow, route efficiency, and asset utilization
  • Ensure accurate inventory control using SAP, including FEFO, cycle counts, and obsolete stock management
  • Monitor and analyze KPIs to identify performance trends and drive operational improvements
  • Manage budgets, forecast resources, and implement cost-saving initiatives
  • Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, transportation partners, and customers
  • Recruit, train, and motivate warehouse staff; lead monthly training and safety observations
  • Maintain building security and access policies
  • Support shuttle program operations and cross-functional inventory reviews
  • Execute additional projects as assigned by senior leadership

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years in distribution, transportation, and warehouse operations
  • 2+ years of leadership or managerial experience
  • 3+ years working with California DOT and Federal FMCSA regulations
  • Experience with CAL OSHA safety standards
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively
  • Strong multitasking skills—independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, SAP, and WMS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Spanish proficiency a plus
  • Experience managing processes and special projects
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Accurate data entry and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop staff
  • Continuous improvement mindset with cost-efficiency focus
  • Solid understanding of warehouse KPIs
  • Physical Requirements:  Ability to perform frequent sitting, standing, walking, and visual tasks; occasional lifting between 50 lbs to 75 lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching, gripping, pushing/pulling, and balancing
  • Environment Requirements:  Ability to work in environments with occasional exposure to uneven ground, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, heights, dust/fumes, biohazards, general hazards, and machinery.

Compensation:

  • Compensation for this role is salaried and will be based on your experience, skills, and location, with a typical range between $90,700 - $125,000.
  • This role is eligible for a targeted annual bonus equal to 10%. Final bonus payouts are determined by both individual and company performance.
