Sustainability Footprint & Climate Data Specialist

Your Mission

As Sustainability Footprint & Climate Data Specialist, you build the in-house expertise and scalable processes that turn product environmental and climate data into reliable, accessible insights. You own and improve Product Environmental Footprint and Life Cycle Assessment calculations, with an initial emphasis on carbon data, while connecting product-level results with corporate climate commitments. By working across Research and Development, Procurement, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, Information Technology and Commercial teams, you strengthen data quality, transparency and governance across countries and functions. You translate technical findings into practical recommendations and customer-relevant value, helping Puratos improve products, support decarbonization and respond more effectively to sustainability requests. This new role combines hands-on data expertise, process ownership and cross-functional collaboration in an evolving field.

What you will do

  • Own and execute product environmental footprint calculations using Product Environmental Footprint and Life Cycle Assessment methodologies, maintaining assumptions, emission factors, documentation and calculation tools across the product portfolio.
  • Build scalable data-gathering processes and procedures that clarify data ownership, validation and quality requirements across functions, countries and systems.
  • Connect product footprints with climate and Science Based Targets initiative data by supporting Scope 3 value-chain emissions datasets, corporate greenhouse gas inventories, scenario modelling and the monitoring of decarbonization initiatives.
  • Identify environmental hotspots and improvement opportunities across ingredients, sourcing, manufacturing, packaging and logistics, translating findings into practical actions.
  • Partner with Commercial teams and customers to respond to sustainability requests, tenders and transparency needs, and to turn technical data into clear, business-relevant insights.
  • Collaborate across Research and Development, Procurement, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance and Information Technology to improve primary data availability, system integration, governance and consistency between operational, customer and corporate reporting data.
  • Drive continuous improvement and adoption by increasing automation and scalability, supporting reviews and audits, sharing knowledge, and guiding stakeholders in the effective use of sustainability data and tools.

Who are we looking for?

  • A Master’s degree in engineering, economics, food science, environmental science or a related field, combined with relevant experience in carbon accounting, environmental footprinting, Life Cycle Assessment, sustainability data or a comparable domain. A first relevant experience of minimum 5 years is needed.
  • Practical expertise in environmental data with the ability to work with footprint methodologies, emission factors, datasets, assumptions and recognized climate or sustainability frameworks.
  • A hands-on, solution-oriented mindset and the autonomy to build processes, make well-founded assumptions, document procedures and deliver reliable results in an evolving environment.
  • Strong data and systems affinity including the ability to understand data quality, structure and flows and to translate business needs into productive collaboration with Information Technology teams and data owners.
  • Customer focus and business acumen with the ability to explain technical sustainability information clearly and identify how footprint insights can create customer and commercial value.
  • Confident cross-functional communication and stakeholder management enabling you to build trust, find common ground and drive implementation across multicultural teams and different areas of expertise.
  • Fluent English in writing and speaking; Dutch, French and/or Spanish are assets. Limited travel may be discussed depending on business needs.
