Production Supervisor
(Richmond, BC)
Your Mission
The primary function of the Production Shift Supervisor is to oversee and direct the production/ manufacturing workforce. This role is responsible for the packaging, depositing, and refining departments, ensuring production efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement across the plant. Key responsibilities include partnering with quality and maintenance teams to ensure excellence in food product quality and safety, and compliance with all regulatory guidelines. The supervisor will provide hands-on supervision and on-the-floor coordination of production workers, ensuring production schedules are met accurately and on time, while adhering to all health and safety requirements.
What you will do
- Direct and coordinate activities of employees engaged in production or processing of goods.
- Ensure work orders are completed in a timely and accurate manner, within production standards.
- Provide motivation and increase morale by ensuring the team has the necessary tools.
- Champion a culture of high performance through employee engagement and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and assess employee performance, providing immediate feedback and participating in performance reviews.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and maintain accurate records of issues.
- Demonstrate equipment operations and safety procedures to new employees and assign training pairs.
- Analyze work orders, production schedules, and other records to determine production requirements.
- Coordinate operations and activities within and between departments and shifts.
- Maintain positive employee communications and resolve employee relations issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing area.
- Enforce Occupational Health, Food Safety, and Sanitation regulations.
- Participate in the HACCP team and ensure compliance with HACCP documentation and procedures.
- Generate accident reports and participate in accident investigations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- General office, food manufacturing, production, and warehousing environment.
- 50% or less of the day spent sitting near a computer/workstation.
- Available for shift work (6:30am to 3:00pm and 2:30pm to 11pm).
What we expect from you
Skills, Competencies & Others
- Solid understanding of the English language with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated competency in manufacturing, production, food safety, and work safety practices.
- SAP or equivalent ERP system usage experience is mandatory.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to coordinate, train, motivate, and empower others.
- Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Direct working knowledge of production, sanitation, and warehouse operations.
- Ability to maintain clear and concise records and documentation.
- Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
- Knowledge of regulatory and quality system requirements (PRP, HACCP, GMP, Preventive Controls).
- Demonstrated knowledge of WorkSafe BC and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities.
- Occupational Health & Safety training and/or certification.
- First Aid - OFA Level 1 required, OFA 2 an asset.
- 4+ years in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
- 3+ years of people management or supervision experience.
- Valid Fork-lift Ticket is an asset.
