Position Overview

Based at Guangzhou China, in order to further strengthen our research & development team, we are currently seeking an:

Regional R&D Manager Bakery - Asia

(Guangzhou, China)

Reporting to R&D Director APMEA, you will be responsible for the R&D activities and projects related to all product categories of Bakery, in line with the Group strategy and the Regional and Country priorities.

Key Accountabilities

1. Support country teams on product development

• Drive innovation through the development of new products and concepts, in line with local market needs and for all customer segments, together with the country team;
• Drive renovation projects through product reformulation, optimizing product performance using differentiating and/or cost reduction technologies in line with benchmarking results and market needs, together with the country team;
• Stimulate the use of Puratos tools for project management (Go Local) by the local business development team (R&D, Marketing, Sales).

2. Provide R&D support to customers

• Drive tailor made projects for large accounts, together with the country R&D:
• Follow up the Top 5-10 industry projects per country as well as projects with focus customers and define plans to accelerate a successful closing of the projects;
• Assure R&D / technical follow up and implementation at customers, through customer visits, and by assisting to product implementation on customer lines;
• Stimulate the use of Puratos tools for project management (Go-no Go, CRM) by the local sales and R&D team.

3. Assure technical trainings to business development teams and customers

• Organize trainings to Business Development teams, being R&D, sales, technical advisors and marketing teams, in line with the market and customer needs as well as the Group strategy;
• Organize and support technical trainings and innovation days for customers.

4. Active networking and technological leadership

• Interact with the BU’s, Regional and Global R&D Bakery community in order to be updated on the latest strategy, Group Strategic and International Innovations, and other R&D related topics;
• Participate to internal and external seminars linked to the product categories;
• Stay updated on technological evolutions related to bakery and specifically flour quality, by maintaining an active network with raw materials and equipment suppliers.

5. Regulatory compliance, IP protection and data management,

• Assure good knowledge of the latest country regulatory status for the product categories;
• Ensure confidentiality of know-how on recipes, process and other company know-how, and respect the Group golden rules of Know-how protection.

Profile

• Food engineer or related background acquired through experience;
• 3 - 7 years of R&D/technical experience in bakery formulation and industry bakery production lines;
• Knowledge on flour, enzyme and emulsifier functionality, baked goods and production lines;
• A good level of English, both written and speaking.
