Project Manager
(Mississauga, ON)
Reporting to the Director of Continuous Improvement, the Project Manager is responsible for leading and executing capital projects in Canada. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and budget parameters. Projects may include but are not limited to: major plant expansions, new construction builds, renovation projects and other major production equipment installments.
Key Accountabilities
- Leads major capital projects from inception to completion with accountability for cost, schedule, and quality
- Develops full scale project plans including scope and goals in collaboration with key stakeholders (including close alignment with Site safety officers);
- Identifies & sets objectives to be included in project proposals;
- Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning appropriate personnel and reviewing contractor bids.
- Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
- Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
- Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
- Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
- Effectively communicates project expectations and liases regularly with team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Controls project costs by approving expenditures in SAP and administering contractor contracts.
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions.

Manages overall Canada Capex

- Assists with the development of a regional strategy
- Recommends budget changes in a timely manner
- Oversees completion of various projects across the Canada
- Co-develops plant, facility, and departmental long-range capital plans
- Ensures complete execution of the capital budget
- Drives continuous improvement
- Managing data in PowerSteering
Establishes best practices in Canada in-line with Group guidelines

- Leads monthly capital meetings to review project progress
- Coaches and mentors new regional/local project leaders
- Collaborate with Puratos Group Engineering and Purchasing for best practices and project guidance
- Adheres to all Puratos Group guidelines related to Project Management
COMPETENCIES / PROFILE
Functional skills
-
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field
- PMP certification or formal education is required
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with at least 3 years in CapEx projects (managing engineering and industrial capex projects)
- Familiarity with project management software MS Project, PowerSteering, AutoCAD is highly desirable
- Proven experience in managing large-scale projects with budgets ranging from small to approx. $2M
- Demonstrated knowledge of automation, robotization or digitalization of industrial applications.
- Familiar with production process engineering (P&ID, TDS, URS, etc.) and safety by design
- Knowledge of utilities processing (electricity, compressed air, steam, WWT, process water, …)
- Computer science fundamentals; self-confident with new IT systems, data management, and analytics.
- Able to travel up to 40% of the time to manage projects across Canada.
