Director, Financial Planning & Analysis
Your Mission
The Director, FP&A is a senior strategic leader responsible for driving financial insight, planning excellence, and performance management across the Canadian organization. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategy, financial modelling, margin analysis, and business partnering to enable effective decision‑making and long‑term value creation.
What you will do
Mission
Lead and optimize the forecasting, budgeting, planning, analytical frameworks, and performance KPIs that strengthen visibility into business performance and translate insights into actionable strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Modelling, Analysis, and KPI Management
- Own full P&L modelling and deliver forward‑looking analysis that supports strategic and operational decision‑making.
- Identify productivity opportunities, process improvements, and cost‑saving initiatives across functions.
- Lead development of business cases for investments, strategic initiatives, and operational enhancements.
- Evaluate current processes and propose continuous improvement actions to elevate efficiency and data quality.
- Present insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership on profitability, financial risks, and business performance.
Budget and Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting cycle, partnering with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver a comprehensive P&L, balance sheet, working capital plan, and financial targets.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and ad‑hoc forecasts for both Canadian leadership and HQ reporting requirements.
- Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities; align mitigation actions with relevant leaders and teams.
Pricing, Margins, Operations & Operational Finance
- Lead development and execution of national pricing strategy in partnership with Business Development and Marketing teams.
- Evaluate pricing opportunities, margin drivers, and customer/channel performance to maximize profitability.
- Manage commercial price lists and perform competitive benchmarking across product lines and channels.
- Collaborate with Operations to track operational KPIs, costing dynamics, production variances, yield efficiency, scrap/waste levels, overtime and labour utilization, and throughput performance.
- Partner with Supply Chain to analyze inventory levels, safety stock sufficiency, slow‑moving/obsolete inventory provisions, and cost‑to‑serve implications by customer/channel.
- Establish financial governance for manufacturing performance including monthly plant performance reviews, variance analysis (PPV, labour, overhead absorption), and scenario modelling.
- Provide forward‑looking operational forecasts including production cost curves, capacity constraints, and cost‑benefit analysis of insourcing/outsourcing decisions.
- Develop dashboards and operational finance scorecards to enhance real‑time visibility and decision‑making for plant and supply chain leaders.
Financial Reporting Partnership
- Co‑pilot financial reporting in alignment with Group Accounting principles and monthly/annual close requirements.
- Support technical accounting topics including tax matters, provisions, and consolidation requirements.
- Work closely with Financial Reporting teams on cross‑functional initiatives and system enhancements.
Leadership & Team Development
- Develop a strong departmental vision aligned with both short‑ and long‑term business objectives.
- Lead day‑to‑day team operations, ensuring clarity of priorities, timelines, and quality standards.
- Foster a collaborative and high‑performance culture built on trust, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Mentor and coach staff; support onboarding, succession planning, and individual career development.
- Implement a consistent performance management framework emphasizing feedback, goal‑setting, and development planning.
What we expect from you
- A minimum of 5-10+ years of experience in a Director level role
- University degree in Commerce, Business, Finance a must
- CPA or eqivalent professional accounting designation
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills (verbal/written)
- Experience in a fast-paced multi-tasking, multi-national environment, manufacturing preferred
- A demonstrated Strategic Business Partner to shape financial direction and Strategy
