The Operational Excellence Manager drives the Operational Excellence initiatives (programs & projects) within the site. The OpEx Manager assists in the development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of the Group OpX standards, approaches and tools. This role is a key support and enabler to efficient plant and supply chain operations and a key partner to Site Director and leadership teams. The role focuses on loss identification, capability building, coaching and the prevention of loss reoccurrence through robust standards, documentation and subject matter expertize.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Drive the implementation of Group standards for Operational Excellence. Monitor, report and communicate the progress.
- Develop, implement and monitor the programs and projects management processes.
- Prioritize and implement key improvement opportunities through identification of waste, inefficiencies, key process failures and weaknesses through the Operations Value Chain.
- Provide active support in rational problem solving and performance improvement projects at all levels of the organization.
- Identify, train and coach in OpX concepts.
- Coordinate the training program, train and coach local staff in order to develop on a long-term base people’s competencies and organization capabilities on World Class Operations & Lean best practices (5S, visual management, team work, focused improvement, rational problem solving, Asset Care, SMED, Quality at source, Value Stream, Management Operating System).
- Actively create a culture in which Continuous Improvement becomes organizational values to create a competitive advantage. Provide active support to develop and maintain the key process documentation as evidenced in standard operating procedures, guidelines and best practices.
- Understand basic concepts of Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE). Analyze the OEE and downtime data and translate this in useful reports for production and maintenance. Make Pareto analysis and define improvement project based on the downtime report.
- Identify opportunities for capital projects for process improvement and automation
- Update on an annual basis site loss analysis (where are the losses and what are they worth)
- Update on an annual basis OpX capability assessment (Pyramids) and the Steps to Milestone action plans
- Update on an annual basis OpX capability assessment (Pyramids) and the Steps to Milestone action plans
Profile Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Preferred majors: Engineering, Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management
- 5 years of relevant OpEx Engineering, Continuous Improvement project experience
- Working knowledge of MRP and Shop Floor Control systems (MES preferred)
- Six sigma Green belt certification is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and experience in root cause analysis
- Ability to lead cross functional teams
