The Maintenance Manager is fully responsible for the day-to-day operations of the maintenance team. This position will leverage diagnostic, engineering, and technical skills to maximize the production of plant machinery and equipment for the manufacturing facility. He will also interact with the production team to do basic preventive maintenance work and identify potential issues with equipment. Responsible for the site utilities & manufacturing equipment maintenance with the overall goal of improving productivity, food safety systems, and overall plant reliability while minimizing labor and overhead costs. Manage and collaborate on all local capital and insure the highest levels of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in all maintenance project work.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the maintenance team which includes but is not limited to maintenance planner and technicians
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of production personnel: provide feedback, set goals, perform coaching or counseling, hold direct reports accountable, create development plans and record keeping of attendance points, paid time off, training, etc.
- Responsible for delivering on metrics such as MTTR, MTBF PM attainment, budget, spare parts inventory control
- Resolve issues throughout the equipment life cycle, and improve reliability through FMEA analysis
- Negotiate equipment and spare parts purchases to achieve the best possible terms
- Coordinate vendor services and setup vendor contracts
- Establish and maintain contact with all equipment and spare parts suppliers and service companies
- Establish and maintain contact with all relevant authorities
- Managing plant capital projects in cooperation with the capital projects/engineering team
- Evaluate and document operations, work area design, process flow, and work methods for improved efficiency
- Generate reports that track maintenance spending, Preventative Maintenance vs Reactive Maintenance, and Utilities Consumption and Optimization
- Ensures team completes troubleshooting and repairs of machinery and building
- Lead, Optimize, and the continuous development of the plant CMMS system in the effort of tracking maintenance work, automatically generating preventative maintenance requests, and ensuring the system works in compliance with Quality standards and plant procedures
- Develop, maintain and implement departmental procedures in compliance with SQF standards
- Ensure all staff, contractors and projects are working in a safe manner and environment and in compliance with all Safety procedures (LOTO, Hot work orders, Confined space entry )
- Operate all site utilities inefficiently and in compliance with local requirements. Look for opportunities to improve the efficiency and consumption of all utilities
- Use SAP Plant Maintenance Module as the CMMS system for managing work orders, notifications, budget, and driving forward progress through metrics
- Develop a training program for technicians to improve their knowledge of plant equipment. Use OEM resources to set up lunch and learns + specific training from OEMs on troubleshooting
- Maintain a strong system of critical spare parts to ensure quick recovery during equipment breakdowns

Requirements:
- 7+ years of Engineering leadership in Food, Pharmaceutical, or other CPG industries
- Supervision/Management of teams
- High School Diploma/GED
- BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree is nice to have; MS or MBA Degree in addition preferred
- Special skills required: electronic/electrical, PLC programming, continual safety awareness, test equipment, schematics, mechanical, metric system, blueprint reading, measuring techniques, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- High degree of proficiency with SAP Plant Maintenance Module
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel
- Billingual candidates are a nice to have (English and Spanish)
- Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, climbing/balancing, stooping/twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, push/pull, reaching, and gripping; frequent standing, walking, and visual acuity (near/far); occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Environmental Conditions: Occasional exposure to uneven ground, extreme temperatures, working at heights, biohazards; frequent exposure to excessive noise, dust/fumes, hazards, and machinery
