Maintenance Power Engineer – Job Description
Location: Chilliwack, BC
Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Power Engineer is to ensure company assets, including boilers, production equipment, and facilities, are well maintained and operating in a safe mechanical manner. This role supports the reduction of production downtime through effective troubleshooting, implementation of preventive maintenance programs, and reliable operation of plant systems.
Equipment Maintenance
Support development and maintenance of preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production equipment
Coordinate external contractors for repairs when required
Enter maintenance data into PMXPERT (work orders, traceability)
Operate and repair processing, filling, packaging, and water treatment equipment
Building Maintenance
Maintain plant facilities and building infrastructure
Coordinate repairs and renovations with contractors
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Follow QA, HACCP, Food Safety, and FSSC 22000 requirements
Enforce GMP and participate in training
Ensure safe work practices and PPE compliance
Documentation & SOPs
Develop and maintain SOPs and standard work
Train employees and ensure adherence to procedures
Maintain accurate maintenance records
Collaboration & Plant Support
Work with supervisors and teams to meet production goals
Support efficient use of plant resources
Safety & Work Environment
Promote and enforce safe work practices
Assist in health and safety program implementation
Monitor and prevent unsafe practices
Continuous Improvement
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Recommend process improvements and efficiency gains
Identify and implement cost-saving ideas
Key Competencies

Technical knowledge of PMXPERT, PLC, and equipment

Qualifications & Experience
Class 5 Power Engineering Certificate
3–5 years manufacturing experience (food industry preferred)
2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience
Millwright or Electrician certification is an asset
PLC experience preferred
Physically capable of maintenance work
Strong organizational and decision-making skills
MS Office proficiency
