Buyer / Procurement Manager Packaging

Your Mission

Are you ready to make a sustainable impact?

As a Procurement Manager for our packaging department, reporting directly to the Belgian Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Belgian procurement strategy for Packaging material, as well as coordinating the European strategy for packaging materials across the European sites.

The role will also be championed with developing and implementing the sustainable packaging and new design strategy for Belgium.

Your key Accountabilities

Category Management 

• You identify and deliver business benefits aligned with financial targets, assurance of supply, quality, sustainability, and innovation. You collaborate within multifunctional team to ensure procurement strategies are aligned with business objectives.
• You drive innovation and share new technologies and innovative packaging formats that could benefit and differentiate Puratos in sustainability & customer satisfaction. You promote sustainable solutions in the market and transform the category into recyclable materials.
• You ensure regulatory compliance with existing and new pack formats.
• You set budgets & work with pricing to protect margin. The spend under scope (direct or indirect responsibility) is ~ €25 M.

Supplier Management 

• You build strategic relationships, based on fair buying practices and strict maintenance of ethical standards, with key suppliers and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships.
• You minimize risk through effective supply and supplier management strategies. You condition suppliers regarding company objectives at every opportunity.
• You define strategies and lead process for vendor relationships, including (but not limited to) vendor selection, contract negotiation, governance, and termination. You negotiate, create, execute, and manage effective regional contracts with suppliers (where required) to maximize opportunities.
• You ensure global, regional, and local considerations are considered in supplier negotiations, contracts and relationship.

Regional scope  

• You proactively look for synergies across the European plants to reduce costs and leverage resources.

What we expect from you

• You have a Master degree in in Economics/ Supply Chain/ Procurement/ Engineering with minimum 5 years of relevant experience (procurement/supply chain/engineering).
• You are fluent in English. A good knowledge of French is important, Dutch is an asset.
• You have strong Excel skills. You are analytical and accurate with costs and reporting.
• You have strong project management, organizational, and communication/ cooperation skills at a high level. You bring structure in a complex environment. You can work within a fast moving cross-functional environment where various stakeholders are involved in decision making.
• You have strong negotiation, influencing and presentation skills.
• You are a dynamic team player with a high level of positive energy.
