POSITION OVERVIEW

Based at Gauteng Branch to further strengthen our local Operations team, we are currently seeking a:

FOOD SAFETY TECHNOLOGIST – (Gauteng Branch, South Africa)

Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager, the successful candidate for this key function will be responsible for:

• Working with QA Manager to ensure Food Safety is managed and maintained.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assist in administering the Company's Quality Program in accordance with customer and company requirements. This includes:
• Performs all checks and inspections for Food Safety in line with Company’s food safety policy.
• Coordinating and training of staff on food safety related aspects.
• Managing and representing the company in external audits and supplier audits.
• Ensure general housekeeping (Food Safety) is in order and report non-compliances.
• Do weekly spot checks on expired stock.
• Trending of complaints and other related aspects for food safety.
• Conduct traceability and mock recalls.
• Liaise with Suppliers to obtain updated documentation (COA’s Specifications, Food Safety Accreditations, Kosher & Halaal certification)
• Perform other duties as per operational requirements.
• Assist with OHS requirements at the branch

PROFILE

• Matric and Diploma in Food Technology or relevant Qualification
• Languages: English is a prerequisite.
• A background in manufacturing and processing environments is desired.
• Proven analytical strengths and experience.
• Computer literacy: Office computer (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
• Other expertise: Business & result driven, presentation skill, strong interpersonal skills establishes easily contacts, team player.
• 2 year experience with Food Safety – proven track record of food safety system implementation
