Shipper/Receiver – Job Description

 

Location: Chilliwack, BC

Department: Warehouse

Reports to: Warehouse / logistics Manager

Position Summary

The Shipper/Receiver supports efficient warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations by coordinating the accurate movement, storage, and control of inventory, including raw materials, packaging, and finished goods. This role provides hands-on support to production and logistics activities, ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, and follows established SOPs, GMP, and food safety standards. The position also supports documentation accuracy, inventory organization, and cross-functional collaboration to maintain operational efficiency and continuous improvement within the shipping and receiving area

Key Responsibilities

Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Control

• Coordinate receiving, unloading, and inspection of incoming raw materials, packaging, and supplies
• Prepare finished goods for shipment, including picking, staging, and loading outbound trucks
• Verify incoming and outgoing materials for accuracy, condition, and documentation
• Label, tag, and store materials and finished goods in designated stock locations
• Supply production lines with required materials (e.g., bottles, caps, cartons, pallets) in a timely manner to prevent downtime
• Move, rearrange, and consolidate inventory to support organization, efficiency, and space optimization

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Follow and enforce GMP, HACCP, WHMIS, and food safety requirements within the warehouse and shipping/receiving areas
• Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety procedures
• Support site safety and quality systems by adhering to SOPs and participating in required training
• Identify, document, and report vendor non-conformances, damages, or discrepancies on received materials
• Escalate quality, safety, or compliance concerns proactively to supervision

Documentation & Records

• Complete required shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation accurately and in a timely manner
• Inspect inbound delivery documentation, vehicles, and freight prior to unloading
• Complete daily forklift safety inspections and required equipment checklists
• Process receiving, discrepancy, and damage reports as required
• Maintain accurate records to support inventory control, traceability, and regulatory compliance

Equipment & Material Handling

• Safely operate forklifts, narrow aisle reach trucks, and manual or electric pallet jacks
• Move materials and products safely throughout the warehouse and production areas
• Ensure equipment is used correctly and report mechanical or safety issues promptly
• Maintain orderly, clean, and accessible storage areas

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Support the Warehouse Supervisor and Lead Hand in improving operational effectiveness and efficiency
• Assist other departments as required to support production and warehouse operations
• Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and site goals
• Contribute to a positive, cooperative, and safety-focused work environment

Continuous improvement orientation – Actively supports operational efficiency, organization, and process improvements within the warehouse
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills – Works collaboratively with supervisors, lead hands, and cross-functional teams to achieve site goals
Ability to work independently – Performs duties with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy, productivity, and compliance

Qualifications & Experience

• at least one year of progressive warehouse, shipping, and receiving experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or production environment
• Previous experience in shipping/receiving operations, inventory control, and material handling
• High Reach Forklift certified, with experience operating forklifts, narrow aisle reach trucks, and manual or electric pallet jacks (certification required and re-certifiable)
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, WHMIS, and food manufacturing sanitation requirements
• Strong numerical, organizational, and time-management skills
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations related to inventory and shipments
• Physically capable of standing for extended periods, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 60 lbs
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Working knowledge of MS Office applications; experience with inventory or ERP systems is an asset
• Experience working in a culturally diverse environment

 

Hourly Start Wage $25.12 + bonus eligibility
