As Puratos in Canada continues its growth journey across the country, we are in search of hiring the following position which can be based in either Chilliwack (BC) or Mississauga (ON).

 

Procurement Buyer

 

Your Mission

The Procurement Buyer will be responsible for negotiating and executing procurement contracts and services nationally across all Canadian locations for their assigned categories, with an estimated spend of $20M+. Overall duties include market research and analysis, contract and pricing negotiation, vendor relationship management, productivity, and strategic planning supporting the associated production facilities. Works with, and supports, other business areas on cross-functional needs such as supplier documentation, communication, budget preparation, financial planning, and new business initiatives.

What you will do

 

Portfolio & Supplier Management (40%)

  • Determine the sourcing requirements and vendor selection of materials within assigned categories in alignment with business objectives.
  • Subject matter expert on market conditions and industry landscape.
  • Manage supplier relationships by conducting regular business reviews, tracking supplier performance, and developing new partnership opportunities.
  • Develop alternate sourcing and business continuity plan to minimize risk associated with the procurement of volatile or high-volume materials.
  • Work with other procurement individuals and Group counterparts on potential synergies and cross-border sourcing opportunities.
  • Attend industry conferences and seminars to stay current with market information (occasional travel required).

 

Contract Negotiation (20%)

  • Negotiate pricing and contracts while following all established business processes to finalize and approve commitments.
  • Work with Legal to negotiate and determine legal and business terms for vendor supply agreements or terms & conditions.
  • Manage the RFI/RFP and bid evaluation process as part of regular contracting cycle.

 

 

Stakeholder Management (20%)

  • Support Material Planners on operational requirements for all Canadian production facilities.
  • Support Finance on annual budgeting, purchase price variance (PPV) tracking, financial analysis, and customer costing.
  • Support R&D, QC/QA and Operations on material/vendor qualifications, new source documentation, obtaining samples, and escalation of vendor communications.
  • Support Sales, R&D and Operations on new business development opportunities, product launches, and strategic initiatives.

 

Performance Management (20%)

  • Identify and enable execution of targeted incremental cost savings opportunities and areas that could be value-add or improve efficiency for the business.
  • Report cost savings and rolling forecasted material costs accurately using established company procedures.
  • Extract appropriate information out of reporting systems to enable the reporting and presentation of Procurement data at multiple business levels.
  • Support or lead special projects as required; this could include things such as HQ-led initiatives, meeting global objectives. ESG implementation, and continuous improvement projects

 

What we expect from you

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a procurement and/or supply chain function.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; relevant certificate or professional designation is an asset.
  • Direct working knowledge of strategic sourcing, vendor relationship management, contract negotiation, and cost management.
  • Knowledge of computer software and systems including enterprise resource management (ERP), materials resource planning (MRP), Microsoft Office, forecasting tools, and database management; experience using SAP is an asset.
  • Capability to work with internal departments, external partners, and diverse personalities in a manner that promotes positive relationships.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management, priority setting, and analytical skills.
