To strengthen our team in Andenne, we are looking for a:

 

Bioinformatics Analyst

 

Your mission

 

Based at our R&D site in Andenne, you will be responsible for analyzing bioinformatics data from research projects on enzymes and starter cultures. Your role will include transforming complex datasets into actionable insights, maintaining existing tools, and rigorously documenting the results. You will collaborate closely with research teams to ensure the quality and relevance of your analyses.

 

Your responsibilities

 

  • Data analysis: Conduct bioinformatics analyses on complex datasets, including DNA sequences, to provide concrete insights for research teams.
  • Tool maintenance and management: Maintain and optimize bioinformatics tools, including updates, data backups, and archive management.
  • Script application: Use and apply pre-existing scripts and pipelines to automate analysis processes; no new tool development is required.
  • Data organization: Ensure proper organization, archiving, and documentation of results to facilitate access and understanding for the entire team.
  • Reporting and documentation: Write technical reports in English, summarize results for different teams, and communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Technology watch: Monitor trends in bioinformatics, in silico biology, and Linux developments, communicate key insights to the platform team and propose plans to adapt or acquire new tools and methodologies.

 

What we expect from you

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Technical skills:
    • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R) and basic knowledge of biostatistics.
    • Strong command of Linux systems and Unix shell scripting.
    • Solid understanding of bioinformatics fundamentals (genome assembly and annotation, transcriptomics).
    • Experience in building databases and developing bioinformatics pipelines.
  • Languages: French + Technical English: Ability to read, comprehend, and write technical reports in English.
  • Autonomy: Capability to carry out analyses independently while adhering to established protocols.
  • Communication: Skill in simplifying complex results for audiences from various scientific backgrounds.
  • Team spirit: Regularly collaborate with production and research teams to ensure alignment.
  • Rigor: Attention to detail in data management and execution of analyses.
  • Versatility: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks as required.
