Industrial Bakery Specialist

Support profitable business growth at industrial sized customers by formulating, proposing & implementing innovative concepts on their lines and solutions, and by trouble shooting specific issues at customers.

This role will be a key member of the R&D team, supporting our technical needs for industrial customers across the USA. This role can be based out of any of the following Puratos locations:

  • Pennsauken, NJ
  • Miami, FL
  • Chicago, IL
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Seattle, WA




  • 5+ years of experience in a bakery manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science is a plus
  • Passion for industry processing (culture)
  • Mix of Analytical / attention to details
  • Dynamic and pro-active personality, doesn’t accept the status quo
  • Customer oriented with sense for business development opportunities - Strong networker

  • Development and implementation of new products and concepts on industrial lines
    • Development of products in line with customer demands by following our NPD process.
    • Includes formulation and standardized baking tests
    • Participate in the creation of demo concepts
    • Understand R-A-P approach required for successful implementation
  • Trouble shooting at customers
    • Respond to customers needs when facing technical challenges in their bakeries 
    • To ensure existing sales, or to develop new business opportunities
    • Identifying Puratos solutions that may address customer challenges 
    • Includes adaptation if needed of existing formulas
  • Business Development Support
    • Identifying new business opportunities at large customers (prospection)
    • Detecting products at risk
    • Implementing appropriate solutions (existing and new)
    • Making internal and external presentations explaining benefits of our products
    • Participate in strategic exercises intending to develop our business in the specific products. This should be based on a good understanding of the local market.
  • Technical Reporting
    • Write detailed and thorough reports of all technical interventions 
    • Ensure complete documentation on raw materials, formulations, process parameters, item requests, QC tests, labelling, TDS, on new or revised products;
    • Build an accessible project documentation in line with our NPD procedure by using the appropriate tools (R&D development documents, customer visit templates)
  • Build expertise & network in speciality area
    • Become leading expert in the product range by training and field experience.
    • Build around the expertise an active network of high commercial value of customers, machine suppliers, researchers, vendors and the international Puratos R&D community
    • Provide intelligence on innovative raw materials & technologies that can differentiate our products
  • Assure premium performances of the R&D lab by designing standardised baking tests and respecting the 5S and GMP policy.

  • Food Safety
    • Report all food safety and quality issues to immediate Supervisor and / or head of Quality and take immediate action as appropriate within the team as defined by Quality procedures.
    • Comply with our food safety procedures upon new raw material selection, product development or modification and sample preparation.
