Position Overview
Based at our subsidiary in the Philippines, in order to further strengthen our local team, we are currently seeking for a:
Cacao Sourcing Manager
(Davao Region, Philippines)

As part of the SBU Chocolate the Cacao Sourcing Manager will need to ensure the implementation of the Cacao-Trace program following the 4 pillars of the strategy:

Key Accountabilities
Pillar 1: Economically viable cocoa supply chain
1. Lead the ongoing development of existing and new cacao sourcing projects for PNG and Philippines
2. Work closely with local 3rd party partners and act as a contact
3. Monitor and evaluate programs while keeping a strong link with research and new innovative solutions.
Pillar 2: Environment protection and global warming resilience
4. Analyze local needs in producer areas through a community-based needs assessment
5. Stay current on innovations and evolution in the sustainability and agriculture sector.
Pillar 3: superior taste & consistent quality
6. Ensure high quality cocoa beans from field to first transformation of product, encompassing agriculture practices and post-harvest practices and handling.
7. Solve issues related to cocoa post-harvest process quality
8. Support on-site audits to identify and protect against quality, operational, and ethical risks with suppliers in line with the Cacao-Trace Standard and other standards when relevant
9. This role will require extended travel to producer areas in Papua New Guinea and Philippines
Pillar 4: sustainable living
10. Report on farmer’s stories for communication purpose while visiting the project.
11. Research private public collaboration opportunities for Cacao-Trace
12. Make diagnostic on how to best use funds for a more sustainable living
13. Support on customer visits
Profile
- 5-7 years’ experience in agriculture supply chains
- Takes initiative and approaches the business with a mix of operational and strategic planning. Entrepreneurial mindset is a plus!
- Project management skills: structured, planning, good communication. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with suppliers, cross functional departments, and teams.
- Leadership skills to manage complexity (interdependency, understanding challenges, find consensus)·
- Strong team player
- Continuous improvement and adaptation to a dynamic environment
- Willing to travel on a regular basis (60%)
- Language & reporting skills: Bisaya & English (oral and written)
