Database Administrator (m/w/d)

Your Mission

The main mission consists of the administration and support of our MS SQL Servers. You’re member of the Group Systems Team which is based in Belgium. This team is responsible for the design and L3 support of the different production and cloud systems of the Puratos Group. Among these Databases, VMware, Microsoft AVD, Active Directory, 0365, Storage, Intune, SCCM, …

What you will do

The DBA will be point of contact in his/her domain from a functional and technical point of view and main focus is Database support

The key tasks are:

  • Ownership of our data stores, including monitoring and proactive maintenance.
  • Review and enhance existing database configurations, schemas, and queries.
  • Prototype, evidence and deploy enhancements to data stores supporting Continuous Delivery.
  • Deliver and implement robust data architectural patterns for storage, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Ensure data accuracy, security, resilience, and performance in all areas.
  • Tuning queries, identifying bottlenecks in the databases and instances and take steps to resolve them.

What we expect from you

  • Strong knowledge in MS SQL Server databases and interfaces (Integration Services). Also in routine maintenance, recovery, and handling failover of a database
  • Good understanding of Windows Server operating system.
  • General understanding of storage technologies and networking
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Hands on mentality, taking initiative
  • Acts with integrity and takes personal responsibility for outcomes. Asks for feedback and actively listens.
  • Driven to continually improve skills and abilities. Have a 'learn-it-all' mentality.
  • Prepared to travel for short periods (1 week max) at most 2 or 3 times per year
  • Understand the needs of the business and willing to go the extra mile when required
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Analytic skills for problem solving.
  • Ability to work in an international environment and a team split across the world.
  • Well organized and good time management skills.
