Based at our Pennant Ingredients, NY location and reporting to the Quality Supervisor, in order to further strengthen our quality team, we are currently seeking the following:


Quality Technician / Raw Material Sampler

(Rochester, NY)


Full Time Position


The Quality Technician's primary responsibility is to sample all incoming raw materials upon receipt. Additional quality testing duties include product testing and release of finished goods.



  • Ensure all raw materials received are inspected and a sample is collected from each lot and stored onsite for the shelf life of the raw material.
  • Be familiar with the raw material sampling process.
  • Conduct analytical, physical, comparative cutting and sensory finished good evaluations.
  • Conduct and communicate evaluation results and any non-conformances.
  • Conduct inbound inspection programs including COA reviews and maintenance and monitor supply inventories and request supplies when needed.
  • Conduct, communicate and maintain daily GMP, and process audit results to support continuous improvement.
  • Support HACCP and communicate Food safety and Quality expectations to other departments.
  • Audit processes and help to identify opportunities for improvements and accurately complete required forms/checklists.
  • Assist and participate in QA projects.
  • Overtime hours may be required based on work demand. Employee must be flexible with these hours.



Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or successful GED completion is required.
  • Ability to follow food safety guidelines.
  • General understanding of Retail Baking Equipment and practices.
  • General understanding of evaluation protocols including analytical and physical test methods.
  • General understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Computer skills including word and spreadsheet applications.
  • Able to read and understand English instructions.
  • Understanding of weights and measures.
  • Able to work extended hours, available for overtime and weekend work as required.
  • Must have prior experience in a food manufacturing operation and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
