Bakery Center Manager (Technical Demonstrator Team)

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Bakery Center/Technical Demonstrator Manager (known internally as the Technical Advisor (TA) Manager) has the objective to develop the Innovation Centre (industrial R&D area and bakery) as a state-of-the-art destination where our customers are inspired by superb finished goods, using our focus product range. Working in partnership, it is the Manager’s mission to develop a team of high level Technical Demonstrators (Bakers and Patissiers) that are known for their technical expertise and creativity in developing inspiring finished goods for our customers, based on latest consumer & market trends and adapted to the different channels reality.


Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the team to continuously improve through training in the latest technology of ingredients, equipment, process, recipe knowledge and Puratos products
  • Coordinate team’s planning with Business Development Team to optimize team’s efficiency and responsiveness to urgent and important demands.
  • Use the latest technologies to optimize efficiency of demos without compromise on the quality of the product.
  • Inspire the TA team so they are creatively looking for new finished goods in line with customer needs and consumer/market trends.
  • Ensure finished goods made by technical community are state of the art and in line with Puratos quality standards
  • Maintain existing business and develop new business by identifying opportunities and threats at key customers
  • Conduct demonstrations with Puratos products to create close relationship with the customers; organize and/or give training sessions
  • Participate and/or manage seminars & events in conjunction with Business Development Team
  • Help Technical Advisors influence purchase orders from customers by great product demonstrations and highlighting our high-quality differentiating product range
  • Manage and organize the Innovation Center activities including equipment selection and maintenance, raw material management, finished goods samples, scheduling, cleaning schedule, implementing and managing 5S program, user training and policy creation. Collaborate with other Puratos Innovation Centers in the world to incorporate best practices
  • Keep close collaboration with preferred machinery & equipment manufacturers to have the latest technology in the innovation center and to have the best service and purchase conditions.
  • Actively participate in new product development early in the process and take part in range review & positioning, together with the R&D and the Marketing departments/BU.
  • Assure that the image building process is in line with Puratos product standards (pictures, leaflets, video, virtual IC, Social media…).
  • Train newly hired personnel and colleagues from the Business Development Team
  • Conduct analysis of accounts and control of budget expenses of the local IC & team expenses.
  • Be an ambassador in the sector by networking with professional organizations, trade organizations, and schools.



  • Post-secondary education in bakery/patisserie and/or Bachelor’s in food science
  • Availability to travel (Western Canada, Quebec, Europe, US)
  • 10 years of experience in the bakery/patisserie sector; high level of professional technical skills as well as theoretical and practical knowledge in both traditional methods and current trends needed;
  • People management experience, lead, inspire and manage by empowering the team, enabling great teamwork to produce desired results
  • Production techniques knowledge in Bakery, Patisserie and Chocolate and new developments in market (products and technology)
  • Strong communication skills (be a good communicator and a good speaker, able to give training)
  • Presentation and language skills: mastering of local language, French is a plus
  • Commercial skills and being able to adapt according to the to needs of the customers
  • Capacity to influence others and to negotiate (internal and external)
  • Mastering of meeting techniques and management
