Sales Director, Industry

(Mississauga, ON)


Reporting to the National Sales Director, the Sales Director, Industry will be manage a team of 4-6 members in driving the national sales objectives

  • Comply with all local and national food safety and legal requirements.
  • Perform all job responsibilities under the strictest guidelines of food safety standards.


  1. Key tasks


Sales Support (60%):

  • Support the sales team in the field; build strong relationships with Key Customers and cascade company values, principles, objectives and sales strategies. 
  • Build a high performing sales team through the implementation of training programs (product, selling skills, hard and soft skills). 


Business management (20%):

  • Analyze sales reports and trends.  Build and manage budgets (Sales, T&E, and Headcount) for the region, as well as presentations for internal meetings.
  • Build strategies and action plans to create new markets for strategic innovations, protect existing business and capture new market share. 
  • Work in close collaboration with Product Managers and R&D to ensure we have the right product portfolio, allocation of resources and provide competitive intelligence. 


Leadership (10%):


  • Live the values of the company and be a role model for the company culture.
  • Assess salespeople and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop the skills of direct reports with precise, measurable action plans.
  • Recommend succession planning, employee reviews and a keep a close pulse on employee morale


Other tasks (10%):

  • Lead project charters, mentorship programs, and strategy sessions.  


            Travel Requirements: 50-70% nationally


VI.      Requirements


  1. Education
  • University degree in business or food science is preferred.


  1. Experience
  • Minimum 5-10 years of proven successful sales track record.
  • Experience in the food industry (baking, ingredients), B2B an asset
  • Understanding of retail and food service markets.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in direct selling in the commercial industry (preferably in the food industry) with proven results in relationship building, negotiation skills, strategic insight and concept thinking.  Must have experience managing national accounts.

  • An in-depth knowledge of Marketing & Sales to develop new concepts, ideas with a creative and goal-oriented objective.
  • A broad knowledge of our product range, technical knowledge, and product applications.
  • A good knowledge of the baking ingredients market and industry related businesses is preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable software programs and digital tools
  • Keen understanding of financial issues relating to sales and profit.  Must be able to analyze and solve problems with a financial perspective. 
  • Excellent oral communication, written, and presentation skills.  Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • A broad knowledge of legal aspects and their impact on business activities.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in French is an asset

  • Managing a team of 4-8 people.
  • Directly responsible for $80 portfolio and indirectly an additional $20m.
  • Expectation is to grow the business aligned with long-term objectives and focus on strategic innovations and Health & Wellbeing.
