Position Overview

Based at our site in Simonswood, on the outskirts of Liverpool, we are currently seeking an NPD Assistant.


The contract is temporary however there is an opportunity for permanent employment for the right candidate. This will be discussed further at interview stage.


The role is full time on day shift working 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday with some flexibility available with regards to your start and finish time. This can be discussed further at interview stage.


The role is commutable from the Liverpool/Skelmersdale/St Helens/Wigan areas.



The role of the NPD Assistant plays a key part in supporting the site team to complete new product trials and sample preparation for our customers who are some of the most well-known retailers in the UK food industry. The successful candidate will therefore be interested in the food industry, be curious yet methodical, and have a strong desire to learn and achieve.


With the support of a small and friendly team, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Production of high quality samples destined for use by both the company and the customer.
  • Completing product scale ups; from creating a small 1kg kitchen sample and scaling up to a 100kg factory vessel.
  • Testing of our sauces in real life application i.e. on ice cream, cakes, and desserts.
  • Analysis of samples to ensure consistency.
  • Accurate record keeping ensuring full traceability of the ingredients and process used in trial batches and providing detailed results.
  • Following strict food safety, health and safety and quality control practices within the scope of the above activities.
  • Working well with all members of the site team but in particular the Technical, Production and Quality teams; with a priority on clear and proactive communications and a collaborative approach to problem solving.



The ideal candidate will

  • Have prior experience within food manufacturing or another relevant production environment/industry
  • Be methodical and rigorous and work with a high attention to detail
  • Be a team player who can also work well cross-functionally
  • Have a Basic Food Hygiene certificate or can demonstrate awareness of food safety procedures
  • Be a confident user of computers and technology
