Group Corporate Controller

In this role, you will be part of the Controlling team of the Finance Department based in Belgium and reporting to the Head of Controlling.

The main mission of this role is to:


Within our matrix organization you will work with the different headquarters departments such as Group Operations, Business Development, HR, Finance and Tax & Legal as well as with the local teams in the company’s branches.


You will undertake various functions related to corporate controlling; supporting the management in better understanding the drivers for costs in the P&L, the evolution and deviation versus the objectives, the people evolution, and work actively together with Purchasing and Pricing to support the Group’s Objective.


You will also be responsible for providing a framework for cost monitoring, by creating visibility and ownership amongst the different levels of the hierarchy, initiating a change in mindset, and by providing the right vision to the management (Group Executive Committee) to achieve the objectives of the group.


As a key member of the controlling team, you will also dedicate time on innovative projects like Automation, improvement on our efficiencies, zero based budget… that have a direct impact on our performances.



Key Accountabilities


In this role, you will:

•          Create visibility on group profitability to the Management; analysis on cost, follow up of KPIs, attention flags on sensitive captions, and proposal of key focus areas;

•          Drive the change of mindset within the Organization: create ownership within the different levels of transparency;

•          Collaborate with the different Finance Teams during Budget Process to facilitate a Zero-Based Budgeting approach;

•          Facilitate the HQ Budget process with the different departments help the Management in defining targets, and guide the budget owner in the process;

•          Provide critical assessment of all budgets and cost projections;

•          Develop and implement proactive solutions and cost-cutting measures in line with ongoing efficiency and transformation programs such as the Global Shared Services (GSS);

•          Drive the Organization trough the continuous improvement journey of its profitability: develop a strong approach, train the community to the methodology, tools and best practices, and guide them in the internal and external benchmark solution;

•          Provide ad hoc support to the Management, Group or local;

•          Interact with ICT teams to develop, enhance and promote the right tools for cost and profitability monitoring;


Who are we looking for?


  • Minimum Master degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience in Financial Controlling, preferably in an international and industrial environment;
  • Fluency in English. Good knowledge of other languages (French, Dutch or Spanish) is an asset;
  • Tech savvy profile with strong affinity with Reporting tools (Qlikview, Microsoft Power BI) and Microsoft Excel; knowledge of SAP knowledge is a plus
  • Result-oriented, creative thinking skills
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problem solving with a deep commitment to the bottom line    without compromising on quality;
  • Team player
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Very good communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders, from different departments, level in the hierarchy, geographical zones and background;
  • Honest, and with strong integrity
