Global Tax Director

At Puratos, the Global Tax director assumes the tax management of the Group, with the objective to develop the Group tax strategy, ensure and steer the day-to-day activities of the Group Tax Department and manage and control the effective tax rate, the tax cash and the tax risks.

 

The Global Tax Director has the end-to-end accountability for all tax matters of the Group globally. This includes the responsibility for tax projects, tax planning, tax accounting, tax compliance and tax controversy.

 

You will be based in our Worldwide HQ in Belgium (Groot-Bijgaarden close to Brussels).

 

The Global Tax Director reports to the General Counsel of the Group.

 

Key accountabilities

 

In close working relationship with the General Counsel, the Tax team, the global business control function and the local finance teams, you will:

  • Ensure the provision of specialized tax expertise in the area of (inter)national corporate tax, indirect tax, tax compliance, and transfer pricing at Group Level
    • Ensure top quality tax expertise is readily available, either internally or externally, to assist on a wide variety of national and international ad hoc and ongoing tax matters
    • Supervise, follow up and manage complex (inter)national tax projects
      • identify, develop, analyze, compare structures
      • validate structures against the company’s policies and risk tolerance,
      • calculate tax savings/impact,
      • ensure adequate contractual framework
      • manage the implementation
    • Manage, assist in and follow up on major direct and indirect tax & TP litigation
  • (Ensure the) Management and coordination of all tax department activity at Group level
    • Evaluate the overall tax risks to which the Group may be exposed and analyze, recommend, implement and follow-up on necessary measures to ensure tax compliance
    • Monitor and analyze the effective tax rate, the total tax cost and the cash tax of the Group
  • Ensure and continuously improve accurate group-wide, coherent direct and indirect tax and transfer pricing compliance, reporting and policies, documentation and tools are in place
  • Ensure and validate group-wide tax accounting
  • With full budget responsibility
  • Supervise and coach the Group Tax team and actively participate in the process of upgrading the tax skills of the financial teams across countries, ensure proper training for tax capabilities and tax leadership is in place
  • Keep abreast of major upcoming changes in tax in order to identify, develop and evaluate tax opportunities and risk and the broader tax strategy for the group
  • On a regular basis, report to the Group Tax Committee (President, board members, CEO, CFO, General Counsel) on status of major tax files

 

Who are we looking for?

 

  • Educated to a Masters Level minimum in Economics or Law with an additional degree in Taxation
  • Affinity with Belgian Tax Law.
  • 15 years’ minimum professional experience in Tax
  • Experience in a multinational, in a leading role at EMEA or worldwide headquarter level
  • ICT: SAP knowledge definitively is a plus
  • Fluent in English, in addition to fluent Dutch or French. Spanish is an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and people management skills
