MISSION  

           

You will contribute to the creation of value by improving existing production tools in a defined geographical area.  Together with an international team, we will accelerate the delivery of the digital and productivity transformation. You will pursue the two objectives of increasing financial competitiveness and improving the ergonomics and quality of work for the operators. 

 

You will be part of the de-centralized center of competences that pursue the goal to automate manual and repetitive activities in our operations.  This consist of identifying of the opportunities, engineering feasible solutions, searching for innovative technologies, ensuring project implementation in compliance with quality, safety and business objectives. 

 

You will drive the continuous improvement mindset, apply the asset design and project management best practices, manage a portfolio of Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) projects and develop a regional strategy to secure the implementation in time and in full of the retained projects.
Your regional portfolio can reach around 2M€/year of CAPEX and includes several dozen initiatives in various stages of progress.

 

 

KEY TASKS

 

Lead the regional automation transformation

Continuous improvement:

  • Focus on equipment design and performances.
  • Challenge status quo to identify improvement opportunities
  • Develop network between different geographical areas to learn and exchange good and bad practices
  • Analyze KPI’s and data to chase inefficiencies.

 

Portfolio Management:

  • Collect project opportunities based on the creation of value principle.   
  • Apply a selection process and track delivery progress
  • Lead the decision making to maximize the benefit delivery with available resources   
  • Develop and implement a strategy to ensure sufficient and competent staffing of CAPEX project teams in the various locations where projects are retained.
  • Close project to capture learnings and confirm value creation.
  • Coach project managers of other projects in your automation portfolio

 

Asset Design and Engineering:

  • Oversee conceptual design to learn or to ensure correct implementation of standard solution.
  • Ensure alignment between user requirements, solution specifications and contractual agreement.
  • Ensure good integration of all digital tools to implement progressively the digital/Industry 4.0 ecosystem.
  • Respect Capex procurement procedure for all projects.
  • Ensure good hand-over to the end-user to enable fast creation of value.

 

Standardize and harmonize asset design

  • Develop a library of “ready-to-use” solution in collaboration with the other Automation CAPEX engineers of the Group
  • Search and develop innovative solution where opportunities are identified but solutions are not found yet
  • Use delivered projects to inspire and communicate flagship solutions to other plant of the Group
  • Develop a procurement strategy with key suppliers

 

Watch market trends and innovations

  • Follow-up of the technical/technological evolution in the food industry (suppliers, magazines, fairs, courses, …) 
  • Communicate and share this knowledge with colleagues and peers.
  • Look for practical applications.

 

 

COMPETENCIES / PROFILE   

 

Functional skills

  • Education level:  Master’s degree in Industrial or Civil or Food Engineering
  • Demonstrated skills in engineering and management of industrial capex projects. (Not less than 10 years of experience)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automation, robotization or digitalization of industrial applications.
  • An appetite and passion for engineering and new technologies is an asset.
  • Familiar with production process engineering (P&ID, TDS, URS, …)
  • Knowledge of utilities processing (electricity, compressed air, steam, WWT, process water, …)
  • Computer science fundamentals; self-confident with new IT systems, data management and analytics.
